Management Board
The MPI of Immunobiology and Epigenetics, as any other Max Planck Institute, is managed by its directors. Each director is a scientific member of the Max Planck Society e.V. and the head of one of the institute’s scientific departments. Together with the head of Administration of the institute they form the Management Board (‘Kollegium’). This is the central decision-making body of the MPI-IE.
The Managment Board meets on a regular basis and establishes the general scientific and administrative policies as well as long-term developments of the institute. Both the management board and the administration interact closely with the Max Planck Society in Munich regarding budgetary, personnel, and policy issues. The managing directorship rotates every three years among the directors of the MPI-IE. From January 1st, 2024 until December 31st 2026 the Managing Director is Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Cissé.
