Nikolaus Rajewsky - Single cell sequencing in space and time

System biologist Nikolaus Rajewsky from Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association, Germany will visit the MPI-IE and join our Special Guest Lecture Series. Research

The Rajewsky lab in Berlin studies how RNA regulates gene expression. A former focus was on mechanisms and functions of microRNAs. More recently, the team started to study the function of RNA binding proteins and long noncoding RNAs, including circular RNAs (circRNAs) by using various model systems. Read more at MDC.

Nikolaus Rajewsky earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics at the University of Cologne, Germany in 1997. After postdoctoral research at Rockefeller University, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology and Courant Institute for Mathematial Sciences at New York University (2003-20056). In 2006 he became Full Professor for Systems Biology at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in Berlin, Germany and directs since 2008 the Berlin Institute for Medical Systems Biology (BIMSB).
