Apoorva Baluapuri earned his PhD at the Cancer Systems Biology Lab at University of Würzburg (Elmar Wolf now in Kiel), Germany in 2021. He received a Walter Benjamin Fellowship from German Research Council (DFG) to study of mRNA synthesis in the lab of Karen Adelman at Harvard Medical School. In Boston, Apoorva investigates the mechanisms and modularity of gene regulation by the Integrator complex and applying these findings to cancer therapeutics. [more]

Dr. Stefanie Grosswendt, head of a BIH junior research group in the joint research focus “Single Cell Approaches for Personalized Medicine” of the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH), the MDC and Charité, Berlin, joins our lecture series to present a talk on “Cell communication uncovered in single-cell resolved neighborhoods”. Marieke Oudelaar heads a Lise Meitner Group at the MPI for Multidisciplinary Sciences on “Genome Organization and Regulation”. She will be joining our Special Guest Lecture Series in June 2024 to talk about her research on the regulation of gene expression in the three-dimensional genome. [more]
